Grow Up

Scriptural Reference:

1Corithians 13:11

When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things

What is Childishness?
According to the Macmillan English Dictionary, a childish person is one who behaves in a silly and annoying way like a child or it is used to describe behaviors that is not reasonable or senseless.

A childish person can be said to be one who behaves immature or juvenile when a situation actually demands a certain level of maturity to handle.

Areas where one can be childish

The reference scripture details three (3) distinct areas one can act childishly, these are;
In our Speech
• In our understanding and
• In our thoughts

We are going to take our time to look at all three areas and study examples from the bible, starting with the very first one.

Speech

Words carry tremendous amount of power and have the ability to influence and/or alter destinies and futures. A childish person is easily susceptible to making loose and unguarded statements, which are potent enough to destroy them. An example of this in the bible of someone who behaved childishly in speech is Esau in Gen. 25:32 after he had returned from the field hungry and found his brother preparing stew…” …and Esau said I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do me?” with just that one statement Esau sold his destiny and carelessly transferred his birthright blessings away to Jacob. Esau made a loose and childish statement in Gen. 25:32 which would later cost him his blessings in Gen. 27:38; 40…

And Esau said unto his father, hast thou but one blessing, my father? Bless me…” and earn him a curse in Verse 40 of the same chapter…”and by thy sword shalt thou live, and shalt serve your brother….”

Understanding

According to the Word Web application from google play store, understanding is the cognitive condition of someone who makes sense out of a seemingly senseless situation. For someone to understand something it means the person knows and can both comprehend and perceive the nature and/or meaning of that thing mentally and psychologically.
A childish persons understanding of issues is limited, basic and downright senseless. He or She lacks the proper mental and psychological acumen to adequately process information not to talk of implementing it to gain the required results. In the bible especially in the book of Proverbs 2, wisdom and understanding (discernment is used in other versions) are always used together because it is only when knowledge is understood that it can be rightly applied (wisdom).
An instance of childish understanding can be found in Hebrew 5:13 which says…” for everyone that uses milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe”.
A child will do the wrong thing and not understand why it is wrong until a more matured person is able to explain the reasons why the thing the child did was wrong.

Thoughts

The Macmillan English Dictionary gave the following definition it said “Thoughts are the mental efforts that you make to understand something, make a decision or solve problems”.

A childish person’s thoughts tend to be self-centered and more often gravitates towards self-gratification and preservation, instead of God centered and people oriented. An example of childish thinking can be found in the case of the parable Jesus gave about the rich fool in Luke 12:16-20….” And he spoke a parable unto them saying, the ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: and he thought within himself, saying, what shall I do because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, this will I do; I will pull down my barn and build greater…and I will say to my soul, thou hast much….take thine ease, eat, drink and make merry…” this rich fool as the bible calls him thought he was entitled to enjoy the wealth he had accumulated forgetting that it was God who had granted him the grace to have what he was enjoying and for his childish thought God took his life from him in verse 20….”But God said unto him, thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee…”
Our thoughts are part of our driving force in life and there are a lot of implication to it if we have the wrong kind of thoughts.

Growing from the Childish Stage

Decide to Grow
One thing we should understand is growing old in age is a natural phenomenal that happens to all of us irrespective of race, creed or religion but maturing is a matter of individual choice.

Ultimately a childish person would need to make the decision to abandon his or her childish antics and take responsibility for his/her actions as an adult. Hebrews 5:13-14 says
“For everyone that uses milk is unskillful…for he is a babe. But strong meat belongs to them that are of full age…”

Endeavor to go Deep
Ps. 42:7….” deep calleth unto deep…”
For a childish person to grow he or she must endeavor to seek and know the deep things pertaining to God. He can only do this by spending more time in reading the word of God, and seeking God through prayer and fasting.

Building right Relationships
1King 12:8…” but he forsook the counsel of the old men…and consulted with the young men”
The old saying “birds of a feather flock together” holds true in this point. You cannot expect to grow out of your childish nature if you keep the same old company you have had all this while. To grow you will need to associate yourself with likeminded individuals who are willing and ready to grow and help you grow into maturity

Deciding to mature and let go of childishness can seem like a daunting task, but in the end the long term reward is worthwhile.

ACTING ON THE WORD

For merely listening to the law doesn’t make us right with God. It is obeying the law that makes us right in his sight. (NLT) ( Romans 2:13 )

Faith requires that we act on God’s word and not just listen passively.
We can all sit in church and hear God’s word but without doing what is expected we wouldn’t see God’s blessings in our lives. Fellow Christians,It is the application of God’s word in our lives that makes us true Christians and not merely going to church.
It is about putting your knowledge into use. This is what makes us right in His eyes.

Has God given you a word this week? How can you put into practice what God is teaching you lately?

What will your history Be ???

By Atsupi Davoh

Life is a process, people think about what to achieve, than how to achieve. They say the past does not matter, because our past is gone and that our future is most relevant, reason being that we supposedly have control over it. I disagree! Why???

Life is a package, every bit counts and when taken in parts, hmm…. there is a problem. Life has the past, the future and most importantly today. It’s a mistake to ignore your past for its important to your future. Your past is your control in life, it is the only part you can build upon. The past is the reason one can say I want to be a better person.

Your past lets you know whether you’re growing positively or negatively. Ask yourself, what is my past? What can I do better? What can I learn from it? What can I throw away? What can I reborn? What can I repent from? Don’t just throw your past away, learn from it to yield positive results that is how you grow.

Your future lies before you yet it’s untold. Life gives us something great and that is today. You have your past to learn from and a future to achieve but today to make the difference. What you do now makes history. Ask yourself, what do I have to do? A day will come when your whole life would have become your past, a history. What will you be known for or what will you remember yourself for? It all builds up from what you do now.

Your dreams can motivate you and your past can push you but you still need you, what choices are you making today? What will your history be?

Life has given us an opportunity to mould our past through our present to assure a future, this creates our history. The question is will you embrace it?

Maturity in faith

Author: Nathan Lee-Winans Annobi

I don’t believe in the notion that Christianity makes you a supernatural person… On the contrary it makes Jesus supernatural in our lives.
The requirement of our relationship with God is strictly by faith and faith alone. But faith here rightly understood is:

1. Believing that God is… His existence and presence gives meaning to our lives. That we find the ultimate pleasure of life in him and not in ourselves. God in this case is our all necessary and sufficient cause and sustainer of life.
2. Knowing he is the rewarder of those who seek him deligently… We trust in his governance and are rest assured that he is fair to adequately resource our lives in a manner that conforms to his quality or nature of love, justice, and mercy. It is in this that we can find hope and joy. It is at this point that we find meaning to the fact that “all things work together for good for those who love the Lord and have been called according to his purpose”.
So let’s pause and help ourselves… You will not get a promotion because you gave your life to Christ; neither will you win a competition because you prayed….(my headache of the current faith we talk about)… But when you get that promotion or win that competition, will you find the joy in the benevolence of God through his providential rule or will you look to yourself in the mirror and see a self made person.
Prayer in it’s true sense is not letting God know your problems, instead it is letting yourself know about God and his Providence. So I pray concerning my problem because I know “he is and he is the rewarder of those who deligently seek him”.
Until we realise that God is still making the sun to shine and the rain to fall for both the good and the evil; for which reason whoever is wise to content judiciously with his provision will make gains, we the so called Christians will keep on going for days and weeks of special prayers and eventually feel frustrated with a powerless God.
What Christianity makes out of our lives is that, it turns a well created creature who departed from his creator to find his course back to him… We don’t get new human powers by virtue of our new life in Christ…. We rather become the real ordinary creature we were meant to be. The man and  woman without Christ is not the real human we were made to be; he needs to be made into that human and not a superhuman.
That is why Jesus never wore his underwear on top of his trousers like the superheroes of our days. He didn’t come as a superhero but as man (the real man).
*My take on the nature of biblical Christianity*

LEGENDS ARE BORN EVERYDAY

I began to think on some present phenomena as I commuted from home to work one morning. One that really caught my attention was the recent peaceful upheaval about which month produces legends. There has been ceaseless arguments concerning this. I must admit I have been involved in this argument before. And for those who know me, I surely would use scriptures to argue it out. It’s neither landed in any real fight nor chagrin to the best of my knowledge. We thank God for that. I believe it is just an opportunity for people to have fun in trying to exalt their months of birth over that of others.

While others try to be abstemious, others take it ‘world cup’ as it is commonly termed. They go right up to the acme any argument could get one into until they are debilitated. You would hear statements, pictures and prints such as, MAY BORNS ROCK, LEGENDS ARE BORN IN JANUARY, YOU CAN BECOME A MEMBER OF SEPTEMBER…and so on. It’s very interesting I would say.

I will be out of scope to produce facts of legends born every single day of any year, for the argument has been which month overrides the other. To delve into that will be very tasking but it’s rather a fact that legends are born every day. No single day is higher than the other because the grace of God does not run dry a particular day and shoots up in supply the following day. Psalm 23:6 declares, “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.” Also, Psalm 68:19 says, “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation.”

Who are legends by the way? I would define a legend as anyone who stands out to represent a positive change in his or her life time. Anyone who sacrifices the personal aggrandizement for societal, national or cosmopolitan advancement.  I will provide a few names for every single month of the year since that has been the argument. There are billions of names I could mention but time and space will not permit any of us to take up that project. Even a single person from each month is enough evidence that it is not the month that makes a difference but people who responded to the potential in every human being to be a legend.

You can do a search about their lives and see for yourself how they became and still are legends. Time will not permit me to tell of their lives.

January: John Piper, Rick Warren, Martin Luther King Jnr.. February: Christiano Ronaldo, Abraham Lincoln, John C. Maxwell. March: Pastor Adeboye, Ravi Zacharias, Smith Wigglesworth, John G. Lake, Albert Einstein. April: Myles Munroe, Guglielmo Marconi, Paula White, Jackie Chan. May: Kathryn Kuhlman, Archbishop Nicolas Duncan-Williams, Bishop Dag Heward-Mills, Mark Zuckerberg. June: Rafael Nadal, Joyce Meyer, Lionel Messi, Georgina Theodora Wood. July: Maria Woodworth-Etter, Henry Ford. August: Rev. Dr. Bernard Mensa Adams, Charles Finney, Derrick Prince. September: Bishop David Oyedepo., Kenneth Erwin Hagin, Danny Nettey, Ben Carson. October: Bill Gates, Theodore Roosevelt. November: Ellen G. White, Donnie McClurkin. December: Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, Benny Hinn, Denzel Washington.

These are just to prove that at least, every month has a legend born in it. And if we go deeper, we will find legends for each day. My point is everyone is born with the potential to be a legend but only few decide to walk the path of greatness because there is a price to pay. Some decide to express theirs on a higher scale, others choose a county scale. It is left for you to decide. Do not let anyone or anything make you give up in life. The fact that you were born in the first place means the world needs you no matter the circumstances that surrounded your birth. Legends are born every day and they have every day to decide to keep walking the path to the expression of the fullness of their potentials.

CHANNEL YOUR WORDS TO ALIGN WITH YOUR PURPOSE.

Genesis 11:6 KJV

And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.
Another way to tell this verse is; God said, see these people are so united, they all speak one language therefore this thing they have set their minds to do nothing can stop them.

Now there are at least three lessons to pick from this verse.

God’s word is true

God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged. Rom 3:4 KJV

God observed and made a remark concerning a people at a point in time. God observed that when men spoke one language, there was nothing impossible for them. Meaning to say, these men understood one purpose. They were so persuaded that nothing will cause them to drift from their vision. They were solely driven by this one purpose; building a tower that reaches heaven.

Mostly the reason a group of people do not achieve set goals or desired results is because, members do not have the vision in the core of their hearts neither do they fully understand the vision of the group. These individuals who agreed to build the tower of Babel said, “..let us build us a city and a tower whose top may reach unto heaven…”

That was the language they spoke all day long, all they thought about was to achieve this one purpose. In all their daily activities this statement was their driving force. Note that their unity was not because they had one dialect because there is often disunity among people of the same tribe. Even twins and siblings disagree big time on issues. So it was not because they all spoke one dialect neither was it because they came from the same family. Rather their unity lay in their ability to comprehensively grasp the vision to the core.

It is therefore not enough to just know the vision of the group or organization to which you belong but also to have it at heart. That is when you fully understand what it is all about and you are solely driven by it.
Now let me bring your mind to something else. Within the human person there can be distortions. The individual can be torn apart within as a result of disunity.  You are not together in yourself when your mouth does not agree with your heart and mind. When this happens you can’t achieve your vision. This is what happens in most unanswered prayers because your mouth does not agree with your heart on God’s word.

For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. Mark 11:23-24

When your mind and heart are in agreement with what your mouth is saying based on God’s word, tremendous power is released because then, unity is achieved.
……..The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working]. James 5:16 Amp

But where the mouth and heart are not saying same thing, doubt sets in. Doubt is when you boldly declare something by faith in God’s word at a point in time but  you begin to say something contrary because looking at the prevailing circumstance and seeing the way things might be happening, it doesn’t seem like what you declared earlier will be made possible. This is what happened to Peter while he was walking on the water. He stepped on the water by faith on Christ’s command but after a while seeing the storm (prevailing circumstances) he began to doubt; he was afraid and immediately began to sink.

But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. Matthew 14:30 KJV

This is why the scripture says….

For we walk by faith, not by sight: 2 Corinthians 5:7 KJV
Today we don’t need to physically walk on water, though we can. But we walk on water by taking daily steps on the word of God. Not by the dictates of the now.
Moreover, if a man would not contradict himself by the words he speaks there is nothing he has purposed to do that he won’t achieve. There must be unity in the words we speak; we must do away with doubt if we really want to achieve great things. In other words our language or choice of words throughout the period must consistently be in alignment with the purpose and vision God has given us. You shouldn’t say things that do not agree with the Word.
Our problem is that we tend to mix up our language, contradicting ourselves.
Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.

Proverbs 4:24 KJV
To have a froward tongue means to always be contrary or contradictory, speaking falsehood. In the sense that you speak the opposite of what God has said of you.

You are lying when you say “I can’t accomplish this task, I can’t do this or that”. Yes that is a lie.

Because God says…..you can do all things through Christ’s ability that is at work in you. Phil. 4:13 [paraphrased]

If you need healing from a disease you’ve been battling with, then speak consistently in line with the word of God regarding your case. God has provided for your healing.
Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. 1 Peter 2:24 KJVS
When you begin to talk right in consonance with God’s word, then you’re in agreement with God to accomplish great things by power of the Spirit. God says about such a person: nothing (nothing on earth, no devil) can stop him.

MY FATHER, MY FATHER

It’s 4:00 am, and am awake in my spirit, praying in the Holy Ghost.
Then I heard “Christian, can I lead the conversation and fellowship today PLEASE”. Ok Father am all ears.
” Am in love Chris, am so much in love with you. Do you know that?” Yes, Father, I know that. “Really, am not talking about a mental knowing but rather a heartfelt experiential knowledge of my love for you. If you knew, then why are you worried about tomorrow or the future? why do you doubt my purpose for your life? Why are you concerned about the opinions of others? Where is the Joy of your salvation? Where is the peace that passes all understanding? Where is my love and care that I gave you?”
“Why are you giving yourself over to the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, the competition and busy nature of this age. You have believed the economics and the wisdom of your days that teach scarcity of resources, the lack and need of society, the unemployment rates and the insecurities of tomorrow. These are all founded on a lie and not the truth or reality. You have taken your eyes of me and looking at the circumstances around you. You have bought into the stress and pressures of this world system.”
“When you look at the birds of the air, the fishes of the sea, the plants and the wild beasts of the field, they don’t worry about where the next meal or deal or job will come from, neither are they influenced by the praise or criticisms of other. They live in the abundant riches of my supply. Can you live by my love?”
Father what should I do to live loved without worries. “Chris, it has nothing to do with what you have to do. It has all to do with knowing who you are, a son to your loving Father. If your Heavenly Father knows how to take care of the needs of all living creatures, how much more will I not be able to supply all your needs according to my glorious riches in Christ Jesus.”

“I have loved you with an everlasting love and drawn you with my loving kindness. You are not mindful of the Rock that bore you. You sometimes forget I gave birth to you. Can a nursing mother forget or show no compassion for the child of her womb? I will not forget you Chris. If I spared not my only begotten Son Jesus, but delivered him up for you, how shall I not with him also FREELY give you ALL things? As a Father I have justified you, who is he that can condemn you?”
Father is it possible to truly live in this world, with no worries, fear of tomorrow and the opinion of men? How is that possible?
“Yes, with man’s wisdom and standards it is impossible but with me as your Father it is possible. I’m God, is there anything too hard for me Chris?”
Father, what happens if I become worried and anxious and how do I overcome it?
“To be worried and anxious about anything, is to doubt or disbelieve my ability as your father to take care of you. Firstly, worrying is the breeding grounds for fear, and fear is a self-fulfilling prophecy. What you greatly fear will come upon you. Secondly Chris, when you worry or fear, you willfully give over the authority I gave you as son to the adversary to afflict you or fulfil your fears against my perfect will for your life. Thirdly when you believe a lie, you empower the liar. Hence you will live a lie for as long as you believe that lie.
“Chris the only reason you worry, is because you haven’t considered me as your heavenly father, I set the foundations of the earth so that it cannot be moved, I surrounded the earth with oceans, covered the mountains with deep waters. No beast of the field, no birds of the air nor fishes of the sea, ever goes hungry, because I feed them, more so I clothe them and house them just because I care for them. Can you consider how I have kept the vegetation and species from expiring or extinction? I have kept the constellations, the sun, the moon, the stars, lightening, rains and rainbows each to function according to my word that has gone forth out of my mouth, as the GOD and Creator of the universe. But to you, Chris am not ONLY your God neither am I only your Creator, but more profoundly, I’m your FATHER, your Heavenly FATHER and you are my beloved SON in whom am well pleased. As much as I have loved JESUS CHRIST, so have I loved you, ask of me and I will give you the nations as your inheritance and the whole earth as your possession. Fear not Chris it’s my pleasure, delight and joy as your Heavenly Father, to give you the Kingdom.”
“So long as you will do this, for every day of life as you walk with me through my word, you would be able to live a stress-free, anxious-less and worry-free life”
As a Father to me, I will not worry, I will not be afraid, I will not fear what man can do to me. I will not put my trust in man because in you, I put my trust, knowing who I am as a son to a loving FATHER.
Thank you my Father, my Father, in Jesus name amen.

HOW FREE AM I?

The Good news, that persuaded me, and still does today is this, He that the Son sets FREE is FREE indeed. I was told the story of a FOWL, some 10 years ago, which led me to this question. How Free am I?. The quest to find the answer to this question, thankfully renewed my mind, thus making me, who I am today (limitless freedom), hopefully, it will do the same to you.

Picture this, a fowl was transported for about 10km, in an open pickup. Before the journey began, the owner bound the feet of the fowl with rope, for easy and safe transport. On arrival, the owner, took the ropes off the legs of the fowl. The fowl was still sitting at one place, motionless acting bound even though it was set free.

As a 17 year old boy, this single story, stirred up my spirit and mind. Could I be behaving   like this fowl? How Free Am I?

The fowl was still acting bound. Just like me and many others, we were acting sick, bound to a poverty mindset, spiritual attacks, powerless and bound to addictions not knowing how free we were. We didn’t know how forgiven, we were, how holy we had become, how righteous we had become, how rich we had become and above all how safe we were?

Sad to say, Jesus said in the parable of the sower, 75% of people in Churches are still that way today, acting bound, feeling broke, crying and weeping for God to do what he has already done.

This story began for me the journey of stepping outside the boat of religion onto the reality of walking on the water with Jesus (Christianity). I began to ask a lot of questions in church. I knew a little to be free enough to ask the questions everybody wouldn’t dare ask. Example, why do    prayers say, “We are all sinners, so lets ask God to forgive us”. If we are sinners, then like a teacher or a doctor or a driver who has a profession, its our singular profession to sin. Why would God punish us with sickness, disease, poverty if we sin, I thought Jesus took our sickness and disease and poverty upon himself on the cross?

Why do we say as poor as the church mouse, is the church that poor?

Religion hates to be questioned about why it says and does the things it does? It’s not enough to know what to do, we have to know why. The word of God says ” in all your getting, get understanding” Why do we pray the way we pray? I can’t forget the day, a minister of God was teaching and asked the question, are you a PRAYER WARRIOR or a PRAYER CHAMPION? That got me thinking.

It’s true that, He that the son has SET free, is free indeed, but complimentary to this scripture is you shall know the truth and the truth shall MAKE you free. Even though we have been set free, without the knowledge of our freedom we can still be acting as if we are in bondage. In ignorance, we might have been living a lie all our lives, when in reality there are no boundaries and no limits.

Step by step, line by line, a little here, a little there, I began to discover truth for myself about how free, I am.

It was not long, when I found with great Joy that, if any man be in Christ, he is a new species of being, (one that has never existed before). Old things are passed away. See, all things are become new.  Free from my past hurts, pains, offenses. If you can still remember who you used to be in sin and the world. That is a huge self ‘impose’ bondage. Worse is when Sunday after Sunday, week after week you are reminded by someone about how much of a sinner you are or were. Sins of omission and commission we call it, thus bondage. Why haven’t we been taught on confessing our righteousness, but rather sin? As a man thinks in his heart so is he. Can you see the NEW YOU.

I found out, ye shall receive power (miracle working ability to cause changes) after the Holy Ghost has come upon you. So I stop praying and seeking for power because, I have already been given power, but rather I learnt how to exercise the power I have received in the Name of Jesus. I use to go around in circles like many people do today, in-search for Power, from Men of God, prayer Camps, Anointing Oils, etc., but it never came and will never come. This is because, the most difficult thing to look for in life, is something that you already have.  You will never find it, because you already have it, you just didn’t know.

I found out from the words of Jesus, my yoke is easy and my burden is light. The Christian Life as a teenager was a struggle for me primarily because I was practicing religion and the traditions of men. These simple words of Jesus made me free indeed. I began to tell everyone, any area of your Christian life, that you experienced, struggles and difficulty, you haven’t heard the true Gospel in that area. Prayer should be simple, bible studies should be simple, healing should be simple, Evangelism should be simple, our general walk of faith should be simple. In short, if it isn’t simple, it’s not the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Paul confirmed the same thing to the Galatians, He said, who had bewitched you to turn away from the simplicity of the Gospel?

I found out God has blessed me with all spiritual Blessing in heavenly places. I stopped trying hard for God to bless me, when I realized he has already done that. Count your blessing, name them. It will surprise you what the lord has done. There were no more generational curses operating in me. I ask, why religion only taught on generational curses, but not generational  blessings? If we still think we are under a generational curse, that affect everything we do mentally and physically. Knowing you are blessed frees you to see that you can do all things through Christ. Again, as a man thinks in his heart, so is he.

Furthermore, these signs shall follow them that believe, in my name they will cast out devils, they shall speak with new tongues. They shall lay hands on the sick. If they took any deadly thing, it will not hurt them. Are we to follow signs or signs are supposed to follow us? We see a different thing today. It’s also interesting to know that this is for all “Joe Blow” believers, not just for some special ministers. How free are you to believe and act on this? I can heal the sick, I can raise the dead, I can speak in new tongues, so can you. The truth is I have actually done all these things with the exception of none. It’s not as complex as I was told.

The more truth I found, I saw how free I am. Free enough to dump religion and hold on to reality. Free enough to embrace change. Free enough to rest in  what Christ has done for me. Free enough to say no to the traditions of men. Free enough to say no to sin, but yes to righteousness. Free enough, not to be bound by any religious exercise. Free enough to say no to any wrong relationships, but embrace the right relationships. Free to love righteousness and hate evil. Free to share the truth. Free enough to make others free as well.

Today, I can boldly say, this is how free, I am. I am determined to see, experience, explore, the full adventure of freedom I have in Christ. It’s a limitlessness boundary and am glad to say, I haven’t fully arrived yet, but I have left. I have got my “walking shoes” on and walking by faith

15 lessons from 2016

2016 to a degree came with a number Challenges. Fortunately, with all these challenges I learnt some truths and lessons about life .  As I share these truths ,I hope you learn some lessons too .

Lesson 1

The greatest honours are reserved for those who endure the greatest struggles .

It’s almost impossible to go through life without being beaten down by some of life’s struggles . If haven’t experienced struggles yet ,which i doubt you haven’t, then it’s because you haven’t bumbed into the devil yet .lol. But seriously though life comes with struggles and everyone will experience them . In so much as these challenges hurt us ,they are there to also build us . Imagine a teenager like David having to fight a giant Goliath.  It seemed like a herculian task . David had nothing to lose and coukd have easily run away yet decided to face the very thing everybody was running away from . What you must know is your struggle determines your honour.

Lesson 2

Enjoy life . Happiness isn’t dependent on an event but a choice we make.

When i talk about enjoining life ,am mot refering to the  chilling out with friends and all that but rather  living life with joy and peace and not having to bother or worry about every other thing . When we rejoice In the lord by meditating on his words ,them we can experience perfect peace .

Lesson 3

Love people for no reason . No conditions at all !

People usually love for one or two reasons. Our parents will love us perhaps because we have a good conduct . Our teachers will recommend and us with good remarks probably because we behave well . The world puts conditions  on love . If you don’t have your acts together, then they won’t love you . But that’s not how God commands us to love . God wants us to love everyone without any condition.

Lesson 4

The battle of life is mostly the battle of the mind. If you can win in your mind then you will emerge victorious.

The mind has always been the battlefield. The devil attacks our mind to  destroy us. The bible says we become what we constantly think about.  If you are depressed, worried ,bitter or angry it is because you have planted death in your mind .

Lesson 5

Don’t try to be someone else . Be you !!

God set you free so you can be yourself. Not someone else . I mean he sees righy through you and knows all those flaws . He isn’t shocked when you make a mistake . He loves you just the way you are .

Lesson 6

There’s a price to pay for everything.

Every dream comes with a price. We are in a constant trade with life and we would have to let go of somethings before we can have what we desire .To get to where you want to go ,you must drop who you used to be !!

Lesson 7

Everything happens for a reason

Every effect has cause !! If you are successful it’s probably you what was expected. If you are sick is because you aren’t exercising. Everything happens for a reason .

Lesson 8

Quit worrying!

Yes just quit worrying!!

Lesson 9

Trust God even when you don’t feel like it !

When you don’t feel like it ,that’s when you need to trust him the more . His ways are always perfect .

Lesson 10

Words are powerful. We get what we say!

If you life is not what you expected it to be or if you aren’t experiencing God’s goodness ,check your daily conversation. What we say has the potential to acquit us or condemn us .

Jesus Christ or Santa ?Claus?

I searched for santa in the Bible, but to my disappointment he was not in there.

Confused, I thought to myself “what in the world is Santa doing here then ? ”

I have realised that if Christians don’t tell their  story the world would tell it in a perverted way .

Well it’s okay when we hear the stories about  him coming  through with gifts every Christmas eve as the movies portrays. But Santa is not the reason Christmas is celebrated.

I think we have adopted a culture we can’t really relate to .We have embraced the dazzlingly fictitious Santa instead of the dazzling Jesus. We have successfully replaced our saviour with a myth.

Santa has gradually stolen the glory which is meant for Jesus and he’s more popular on Christmas season than the born saviour .

People aren’t giving glory to Jesus  anymore during this season . They may seem like they are but actually in their heart  ,they aren’t .

Anytime something takes the glory that is meant for God  ,it becomes an idol to us .God calls  us to an endless life of grace and opportunities as we give him glory  and  it will therefore not make sense  to throw all that away .
I have nothing against santa but I believe the manner in which the story is told is inconsistent with the Bible . The motive may be be good but it doesnt justify the results.

Nothing about the christmas season now conveys  the message of the Creator entering His Creation to redeem it from the Curse of sin. We are  rather greeted with symbols  of Santa and the fake stories of how he gives gifts to the well behaved child and coals to stubborn ones .
The world has perverted the truth and  as Christians we need to check this ! We must do away with this myth and tell the actual Christmas story to the world . Carols nights are not enough ,everything we do during this season must tell the world about our saviour . Billboards, Television and radio adverts must all portray Jesus  and not Santa .

Isaiah 9:6

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given...

This is the Christmas story .A born  saviour coming to earth to save mankind . He is the reason why Christmas is so special to us as Christians. His coming gave us the opportunity to be reconciled back to our maker . His coming saw Him being persecuted .His coming meant he was going to leave His glory in heaven to become a mere man . His coming meant he was going to be crucified on the cross for the sin of the world .

His birth is the best Christmas gift we can ever have and He deserves all the honour in this season.
Merry Christmas!!
