ChristianLifestyle : “ The Art of Being a Great Friend” By Bernard Kelvin Clive

Friendship is a very important bond . Great minds all over the world agree that having the right friends can go a long way to pave a way of success in whatever endeavour we may find ourselves.

Having the right friend is good ,but being the right friend is even better . Learn Ways to be a Friend People Love to Have –

1. Know yourself: Yes, it all begins with you. You( really need to)know who you are. What makes you tick, your likes and dislikes, strengths and weaknesses. If you take the time to understudy yourself, it better prepares you to handle your relationships.

You will not be taken aback by many things that your friends will reveal about you. It helps you to put your best self forward – your strengths over weakness. “As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.” – Proverbs 27:17

2. Share your values: Be truthful! Be open and upfront with your values right from the beginning. Let your friends know what your values are in life – what’s important to you. Your standards that you wouldn’t compromise on. This prevents friends from violating your values – your prized possessions. To one person the top values could be integrity, faith, etc. to another honesty, gratitude.

As part of sharing your values be honest with your friends, let them know when they go wrong or (against your) set values – rebuke in love. You should learn to gracefully correct your friends when they go wrong. “A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need.” – Proverbs 17:17

3. Offer a helping hand: Be the first to look out for a need of your friends and find ways to help them with it, in ways that you can. The caveat is: don’t become God in their lives, just be a channel to be used.

Note that you cannot meet every friend’s need but you can offer little supports to illustrate your thoughtfulness. “Many will say they are loyal friends, but who can find one who is truly reliable?” – Proverbs 20:6

4. Keep in touch: Make it a point to regularly check up on your friends – call, text, social media, a visit, etc. any act that shows your friends are important to you. Keep in touch not because you will need something from them someday but because you care. It’s nice to be nice.

When was the last time you reconnected with a friend? “There are “friends” who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother. “- Proverbs 18:24

5. Respect privacy: Some things are private and should be kept as such. You may be privy to some private stuff about your friends, just keep it as such. Being a friend requires that you also give people room to be whom they want to be. You don’t need to always be in their space.

Learn to set your own boundaries and also respect that of your friends. Be wary of gossips. “A troublemaker plants seeds of strife; gossip separates the best of friends.” – Proverbs 16:28

6. Forgive first: Hey, as friends you are surely going to step on the toes of each other every now and then. Sometimes deliberately, other times unintentionally. All of these form part of the friendship growing and bonding process. It’s how you handle those little offenses that matter. Have a big heart to be the first to forgive when offenses do happen.

Make room for blunders, we are all not perfect and will err every now and then. Don’t hold grudges, once you forgive make it a habit of not referencing those mishaps. “Don’t befriend angry people or associate with hot-tempered people, or you will learn to be like them and endanger your soul.” – Proverbs 22:24-25

7. Invest in your friends and celebrate them: Friendship is a lifelong investment into each other. The investment comes in various ways – your time, commitment, money, emotional support, etc. If your friend is into any business or project, patronize their services and additionally refer others to them.

Don’t forget little things like the birthdays of your friends, anniversaries, their kid’s graduation etc. Any of life’s milestone and achievements worth celebrating.

Join them celebrate, send a card, a message, a call, etc. Additionally, be there for them in their trying times and grieving moments. When the storms of life hit them,) don’t abandon them. Those are the time they need you most.

“Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.” – Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

Now it’s your turn to be the best friend someone needs!

“A Friend who attends to you only at his spare-time is not worth your prime-time.”

Moving GOD or Moving Towards GOD ?

Many Christians have been made to think God is up there in heaven , maybe ticked off at man ,not willing stretch his hand towards us to bless us . We must therefore by our prayers provoke him to move ! There are some preachers who have made a ministry around this thinking . They suggest that God can , but isn’t willing to do anything on earth unless man sends forth prayers to God .This thinking is very dangerous because it makes God the variable and puts the blame on Him.

If our prayers doesn’t seem answered ,we make statements like “oh maybe God does not want me to be healed “, or “God is angry with me for something “. This is wrong.

Contrary to this popular belief , prayer does not move God neither does our faith . He’s not moved by anything we do here on earth. The only time he moved was when his son came to die for our sins .Hear this and be astonished,God isn’t blessing anyone anymore . He isn’t healing people any longer . He already did that 2000 years ago .

1 Peter 2:24 says

By whose stripes ye were healed ( past ).

What glad tidings for such words to fall on our hearts . When we understand this our faith will go through the roof. Because it is easier to believe in something you already have than believe in something you are yet to receive .

When we believe God has already done his part and that we are already blessed ,the rest of our Christian lives would be spent renewing our minds to accept what has already been deposited in our spirits .

We don’t need God to move .We rather have to move towards God . Moving towards God implies taking the blame off God . It means acknowledging what God has already done and receiving it by faith .

God has already provided everything we will ever need by grace . He has already blessed us with all spiritual blessings. In our spirits we are blessed beyond measure . We don’t lack a thing . The reason you don’t see God’s provisions in your life isn’t because God is withholding them or is waiting for you to pray or serve him perfectly . It is just because you haven’t received by faith what he’s already provided. Faith is simply a positive responds to what God has already provided by grace .

God does not need to move in your life ! He isn’t the one who is stuck . He moved over 2000 years ago by the death of Jesus Christ . He isn’t waiting on you to put up with your best behaviour before he blesses you. He’s already done that.

The book of Ephesians was written from the perspective that it is already done.

In Ephesians 1:3 , it says

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

The scriptures didn’t say God is going to bless us . No ! God has already deposited every blessing we will ever need in our born again spirits . It’s a done deal !

You don’t have to pray for more of God’s blessings . That’s just unbelief. Praying for God’s blessings mean you are doubting what he has said in his word .

Take the blame off God. God is not the problem , we are !

I’m a game changer in the gospel music industry – Lady Prempeh

Gospel artiste Lady Prempeh, born Esther Abena Nyarkoa is convinced she is a pacesetter in the gospel music industry.

For that reason, she has decided to introduce a style of releasing songs which she thinks others may soon copy.

After a long period of absence, she released a single titled ‘Aseda’ on November 25, 2018.

Instead of releasing all the songs on the album, Lady Prempeh says she will be ‘dropping’ the songs on the album one after the other every other month.

This new move, she thinks others may soon copy explaining that when she collaborated with Asem, Pamela and Richie, she was criticized for doing so, but others copied that move.

To Lady Prempeh, people may consider her to be weird especially when as a gospel artiste she decides to collaborate with circular musicians such as Asem, Pamela, Richie and Praye.

In a radio interview on Accra based Hitz FM on Friday, Lady Prempeh explained: “I have always been a game changer, I did ‘odo yiwohe’ people didn’t understand it at that time, they felt it was weird but now, most gospel musicians are doing the same thing, so I think when I do it they will all follow.”

The gospel artiste also stressed that her church has no problem with her because the church understands she was winning souls to Christ.

“…it was our main target, so I should rather be applauded than to be bashed.”

The award-winning singer also disclosed how her gospel colleagues have criticized her for featuring a circular musician, Asem in a song.

“…even some of my colleagues were criticizing me because I did a song with Asem…but for now, the game has changed and they are following the trend I set.”

Disunity is killing the gospel industry – K. Anani

For some time now, on radio; and on the various social media platforms, most gospel industry players have been heard talking about or have posted on issues relating to disunity among themselves. It is perceived that, there is no unity among players in the industry. It could be true; or otherwise. But how do we go bypass that and fix the industry for the betterment of all players?

On Saturday, at the launch of GUGMA, K. Anani in a brief interview with KFM TV, couldn’t point finger to anyone as the destroyer or ‘enemy of progress’ in the industry. But, he was able to identify acts that comprises of the industry not united.

“I think we are not doing well; we are not doing well because, that is what is limiting us. If you look at the secular guys, they are together. And with the gospel guys, they are not one. Because, they come to events like this, you see them together laughing, smiling all together, but when they are doing projects, they don’t consider their fellow artiste to be on board”.

He continued that, he has been on this agenda for long; and his prove is; songs released to his credit. He has strategized to have a different artiste on each of his songs released. He is not worried about who performs or minister better so far as the intended message is delivered effectively.

K. Anani is expected to release a new song with Mr. White in February, 2019 after a successful collaboration with his colleague; a Ghanaian but German based artiste; Daniel Jeddman.

5 Habits that can improve your christian life – Kenneth Bray

A lot of christian strive for change .Most Christians try to get out of a particular sin, Overcome an emotional challenge or simply change from bad habits .

Sadly many of us fail and give up along the way and never actually achieve our goal. Christian principles shows us that real change first takes place on the inside .

When we plant the seed(Word of God ) In our spirits ,then this seed will in turn produce the change that we need.

If you have been searching for ways to improve upon your Christianity , or transform your life ,then this post is for you .

In today’s post ,I share some key habits that I believe can improve your Christianity tremendously. Enjoy !

Meditate on God’s word

The bible admonishes us to abide in the Lord which also means we are to remain or make his presence our home .
You wouldn’t have to be in church only for you to ‘abide’ in the Lord . We can abide when we Read the word, think about it throughout the day, listen to a sermon and meditate on it through out the day . is very possible to think on God’s word through out our day.

Live life by faith

Habakkuk 2:4the righteous will live by faith.”
Living life by faith simply means having a positive attitude towards everything and every moment in our lives.

Look out for others

We will not live fulfilled lives until we learn to genuinely love others as much as Christ loved us .

That is the whole essence of our faith .Without love ,soul winning is meaningless ,without love , everything we do in the name of Christianity would amount to nothing.
Be there for someone .

Do something valuable to help someone. Be a problem solver . Make sure your existence makes someone happy.

Talk to God throughout the day .

Instead of complaining and telling people about your problems ,why not talk to God instead ?

It is not only possible to do this all day but also necessary. Having a good conversation with God,not the religiously clichéd method ,but genuinely opening up to him and thanking him for his goodness and blessing can cause us to receive God’s best for us.

Serve with your talent

Putting your talent to use does not only help others but yourself too . This helps you to improve upon your gift. You will need to Serve people with your talent . The best place to serve with your talent is the church .

Identify something in the church that needs to change or you think can be improved by your expertise and then start .Be proactive ,and don’t wait for anyone to tell you before.

Tips to Getting over an Emotional challenge

It is very easy for a Christian to lose his or her head over a severe emotional situation. Not knowing what to do ,many vent their frustration through anger while others resort to having depressing thoughts .

Years of being a Christian has taught me some few lessons about dealing with these challenges.
In this post ,I share some tips on how how to get over an emotional challenge.

1. Connect to your source(God) :

Depression puts us at a crossroad. At this juncture there are two main choices; you either take it to God or you find other means besides that. More often than not, we choose to handle our problems by ourselves. God is the only one that can give permanent rest. He is the one that keeps your head up in the flood. As clichè as it may sound, going back to God is the best decision you can make in that position. No matter how many times you have to go to Him with the same problem, do it. He does not need us to impress Him. He only desires that we bring our weaknesses and pain before Him, for in our weakness His strength is made perfect.

To do: Say this sincerely: Father, I admit I need your help. Please direct me out of this situation. I receive your divine joy in Jesus’ name Amen.

2. “This is who I am – now.”

We must come to understand certain crucial things in life; life is not static. There are changes every now and then and like everyone else, you are on your own path. It is easy to compare yourself with another and let the difference get to you. But you must remember; no two people are exactly the same. In the same manner, you cannot have the same life experiences as another. Once you learn to accept this, things will become clearer.

Understand who you are and more importantly where you are in life. Take your time. Live through the process. Learn your lessons…And when you get to the top, you will appreciate the person of substance you have become. You will grow to know that you are your own competition and others’ progress should not affect your outlook on life. Remember, the progress of others does not mean you are failing.

To do: Spend some time to assess your life. You can use the SWOT Analysis technique.

3.Appreciate the little things in life:

Most people have dreams- big dreams and they are committed to seeing them come true. In our body to get to the highest point in life, we fill our days with so much work that it becomes a painful routine.

We live our lives in such a way that we cannot take a break to actually appreciate this journey. The little things we do everyday ,like eating ,cooking ,washing ,driving to work and so on are what make up our entire lives. We must learn to find joy in doing such routines. You don’t have to go on a trip, hangout with friends Or get a promotion or a raise at work to appreciate your life .Learn to do so even with the little things in life .

To do: Make a list of your everyday routines and make a decision to enjoy every little detail of your life .You deserve to be happy.

4.Pay attention to your thoughts :

The bible says to be carnally minded is death but to be Spiritually minded is life and peace (ROM 8:6). We must purpose to eliminate depressing thoughts and substitute them with positive ones .We can do this by keeping our minds on God and thinking on his goodness ,then We can experience peace and joy. He will keep in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Him. (Isaiah 26:3)

5.Magnify God More:

In a world driven by pressure it is easy to let our problems weigh us down. From the seemingly little issues like seeing other people live your dream life on social media to relatively more pressing issues like losing someone you depend on; life can be just hard! But we are not at liberty to choose when to exit so it is needful that we learn to deal with things like that.

Making God bigger than your problems is a sure way of getting over them .Mighty things happen when we begin to make God bigger in our thinking. This can totally transform us and improve our faith .

To do . When things become unbearable,Tell yourself,”God is bigger than this problem. It is nothing for God.

6.You are loved ! Remind yourself of it :

God loves you ! It doesn’t matter what you have done . Jesus took your place so your life would be spared. Don’t waste your life living in depression. The Lord does not just tolerate us; He actually loves us. He even likes us. He rejoices over us with joy (Zeph. 3:17).

To do : Remind yourself of how God delivered you from a life threatening situation or how He intervened in your life .

Have you also experienced victory over any emotional challenge? Share with us how you made it below

why call the day of Jesus’ death “Good Friday” instead of “Bad Friday” ?

This morning i couldn’t help but think about this! Why do we have to be so excited about the day Jesus died ? What is so good about “Good Friday”? Especially when it commemorates the crucifixion and death of our Lord Jesus .
Thinking about this opened my eyes to a lot of truths and i couldn’t help but share !

Romans 5:8

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

What the Roman soldiers did to Jesus was definitely not good ,but good hear denotes his love for us to the extent he had to die for our sins.
When you think about it ,we have every reason to thankful for today . Even though it may seem like a bad day ,a true understanding of the original intent of Our saviours death and resurrection gives us every reason to say it’s a good day .
Jesus’ death did not only save us from eternal damnation in hell ,it also rekindled the once lost relationship we had with our father in heaven .
Insomuch as this may seem like a counter intuitive ,in some cases a “bad Friday”( as i would have called it ) is good because it had to happen for us to experience the true meaning of joy in Christ .

1 Peter 3:18 tells us,

“For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit.”

Concluding Remarks

However ,instead of remembering Christ’s death on a certain day, once a year, the Bible instructs us to remember Christ’s death by observing the Lord’s Supper.

1 Corinthians 11:24-26 declares,

“…do this in remembrance of me…for whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.”
