Vigilante groups will collapse Ghana if care is not taken – Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah

Pentecost, Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah, has condemned the shooting incident that took place at La-Bawaleshie during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election on Thursday, 31st January 2019.

He blamed the happenings on political parties’ idea to use vigilante groups mostly during election time.

“I was shocked when I heard about the shooting in the news. Our leaders must be watchful about this and pray for peace. This is sad for Ghana,” he said.

“Politicians must do without vigilante groups. If we are not careful, these groups will collapse Ghana,” Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah warned in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’.

The immediate-past Chairman of The Church of Pentecost also noted that “It’s about time we grow in our political culture, that we begin to know that we’ve got to live and let others also live, and that we do things in a very peaceful manner.”

No death was recorded when a group of macho men believed to be National Security operatives, fired into a crowd of voters at a polling station at La-Bawaleshie during the by-election.

Seven persons were injured in the melee – with two in critical condition at the 37 Millitary Hospital.

The opposition National Democratic Congress [NDC] boycotted the election as a result of the shooting and blamed the ruling New Patriotic Party [NPP] of masterminding the attack.
