When you hear of Christians in many parts of the world breaking new ground, I guess the area of technology does not suggest itself easily. Well, right here in Ghana, a number of young, daring Christians have beaten the odds to rise to the top when it comes to technology. Meet three of them who actually gave life a shot and brought the glory back to the One who owns it.
Chizom Echehieuka is a multi-talented young Christian man whose Nigerian accent you cannot miss. He has always been a go-getter, not allowing Dyslexia stop him from pursuing a prestigious degree in Business Information Technology at the Greenwich University in London. In 2014/15, Chizom was crowned winner of the Samsung developer Challenge Ghana with his app MobiHelp which aids users to load airtime with the use of their phone’s camera. Currently, he runs Dioscode (a creative agency), Project Chow and Project White Church which are his project startups. You can find Chizom for sure at The International Palace Church, Hope Temple every Sunday morning handling the base guitar like the maestro he is!
Derrick Foli has shown us that Technology is his passion. A final year Business Accounting student at the University of Professional Studies, Accra, he has been in love with everything technology as far back as age ten and he has not looked back since then. He is the founder of Rainhosts Services an IT, Web Design and Hosting firm that has expertly hosted many sites including this very one! Derrick is a born-again Christian who fellowships at the Greater Life in Christ Ministries.
He hits the nail right on the head when he says “he is passion-driven change maker”. Derrick Omari has impacted many lives over the years with his talents and efforts. These efforts have not gone unrecognized as he was selected as a Dalai Lama Fellow in 2016 and a Byron Fellow in 2017. Recently, he has been named as one of the recipients for the Queen’s Young Leaders Award for his dedication to humanity.
He is the founder of Tech Era, which equips the disabled as well individuals in deprived communities with computer literacy skills to empower them. Tech Era has also recently launched its first robotics club in Accra Technical Training College out of the proposed twelve club. For Derrick, life is all about giving back to society. A member of the Charismatic Evangelistic Ministries, he is a lover of Spirit-filled music and plays a couple of musical instruments as well.
